Teen Therapy
At Eastside Center for Healing, we provide therapy for teens who are navigating emotional, behavioral, or relational challenges. Adolescence is a period of rapid change, and many teens struggle with anxiety, depression, peer conflict, family stress, identity questions, or substance use during this time.
We offer a supportive, nonjudgmental space where teens can feel heard, gain insight, and develop coping strategies that support long-term emotional health.
What to Expect in Therapy for Your Teenager
Therapy begins with a thoughtful intake process that includes both the teen and their caregiver(s). Together, we identify concerns, clarify goals, and determine the therapeutic approach that best fits your teen’s developmental needs and personality.
As therapy progresses, sessions may focus on:
- Emotional regulation and coping skills
- Communication and relationship patterns
- Stress, pressure, and self-expectations
- Building insight, confidence, and resilience
We work collaboratively with teens while keeping caregivers appropriately informed and involved.
When Teens May Benefit From Therapy?
Parenting a teenager can feel disorienting. The strategies that once worked may suddenly fall short, and it’s often hard to know what’s “normal” adolescence and what signals a need for support.
Therapy offers a place to pause, get perspective, and reduce pressure on both teens and parents. We work with families to understand what’s happening beneath the surface and to strengthen communication, boundaries, and connection not to place blame or take sides.
Parents are included thoughtfully in the process, with respect for a teen’s growing independence and need for privacy.
Common Reasons Families Reach Out
Families often seek support when a teen is experiencing:
-
Increased withdrawal, irritability, or emotional intensity
-
Anxiety, panic, or ongoing stress
-
School avoidance or academic pressure
-
Family conflict or breakdowns in communication
-
Risk-taking behaviors or substance use
-
Identity exploration, including gender or sexuality-related stress
These experiences are common, but they don’t have to be navigated alone.
